Visit Us in Barnard Castle

You'll find us at 72a Galgate, Barnard Castle, County Durham, DL12 8BJ. We're tucked in the heart of town, easy to reach whether you're local or visiting the area for the day.

Parking

There's free street parking right outside and nearby (though it can get busy during the day). If you can't find a spot, Morrisons has a pay and display car park just a short walk away.

Accessibility

We're a cosy space, so if you're visiting with a wheelchair or pushchair during busy times, please give us a quick call first. We'll make sure to save you a table near the door for easier access.

When We're Open

Our opening hours change slightly between term time and school holidays to give you more chances to visit when the kids are off.

Term Time Hours

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday: Closed
  • Wednesday: 10am to 4pm
  • Thursday: 11am to 8pm*
  • Friday: 11am to 6pm*
  • Saturday: 10am to 4pm
  • Sunday: Closed

Last Thursday of each month is our Adult Sip and Paint evening (7pm to 9pm, BYOB welcome)

After school painting sessions available from 3.30pm on Fridays

During quieter periods, we may close early if there are no painters in the studio. If you're planning to pop by to collect your finished pottery, it's worth giving us a quick call to check we're still here.

Need us outside these hours? Our closed days and evenings are available for private hire, workshops and events. If you have something in mind that clashes with our regular hours, get in touch and we'll see what we can arrange.

Quick Answers to Your Questions

Do I need to book ahead or can I just turn up?
Walk-ins are always welcome! During school holidays and weekends, we do recommend booking to make sure we have space for you. For larger groups, please get in touch so we can check availability.
How long does a pottery painting session take?
You'll have two hours to create your masterpiece. Many people finish earlier, but if you need more time, we'll do our best to accommodate you. If we need the table for another booking, we'll keep your piece safe for you to finish another day.
Can I visit just for food and drinks without painting?
Absolutely! We run as a café too, so you're more than welcome to pop in for a coffee, some lunch, or a slice of cake without picking up a brush. No pressure to paint at all.
When will my finished pottery be ready to collect?
We aim to have items ready within 10 to 14 days. Sometimes it's quicker, sometimes a little longer depending on how many pieces we have to fire. If you need yours back by a certain date, just let us know when you visit and we'll do our best.
Is there an age limit for pottery painting?
Not at all! If you can hold a brush, you can join in. We've had painters from preschool age right up to their 80s. It's suitable for everyone, whatever your age or ability.
Can you post my finished pottery if I don't live nearby?
Yes, we offer UK postage. We'll pack everything carefully and send photos before posting, plus provide proof of posting. We can't guarantee it will arrive in one piece, but we take every precaution. Costs vary depending on size and weight.
