Why Paint Pottery in Barnard Castle?
There's something special about creating something with your own hands. In a world that's constantly rushing, pottery painting gives you permission to slow down, focus, and just be creative for a couple of hours.
It's Good for You
This isn't just about making pretty things (though that's a lovely bonus). Painting pottery is genuinely therapeutic. It reduces stress, quiets busy minds, and gives you a sense of accomplishment. You leave with something tangible that you've made, which feels brilliant. Whether you're managing ADHD, anxiety, or simply need a break from the everyday chaos, you'll find our studio a calming, welcoming space.
Perfect for Everyone
If you can hold a brush, you can paint pottery with us. We've welcomed painters from preschool age right through to their 80s. Families come to create memories together, friends catch up over paintbrushes, couples enjoy a creative date, and plenty of people pop in solo for some peaceful me-time. You don't need any artistic ability - just enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go.
More Than Just Painting
Whilst pottery painting is our main event, we're also a café. Grab a coffee, enjoy some homemade food, and settle in. You can eat before painting (we'd recommend this to avoid greasy marks on your piece), or simply come for a cuppa if you fancy it. There's no obligation to paint - our space is for everyone.
Our Ceramic Collection
From fun figurines to functional kitchenware, money banks to garden ornaments - we have ceramics for every taste and occasion. Browse our shelves for inspiration or check our social media for ideas.
All prices shown include paints, glazes, tools, firing and packaging. No hidden fees or studio charges! Your finished pieces will be food-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe.
What You Can Paint
Our shelves are stocked with hundreds of ceramic pieces waiting for your creativity. Here's what you'll find:
Planning Your Visit
Walk-Ins vs Bookings
You're welcome to pop in whenever we're open. During term time and quieter periods, walk-ins are usually fine. During school holidays, we'd definitely recommend booking to make sure you get a table. For larger groups, always get in touch beforehand so we can arrange seating for everyone.
Timing Your Session
Each painting session lasts two hours. If you're planning to eat whilst you're here, let us know when booking so we can add extra time. We'd suggest eating before you paint anyway - it avoids greasy fingerprints on your ceramic, which can affect how the glaze adheres.
What to Bring
Just yourself and your ideas. We provide absolutely everything you need - paints, brushes, tools, aprons, inspiration. If you're bringing young children (under 14), they'll need supervision from an appropriate adult throughout the session.
Collection
We'll contact you using the details you provide when your piece is ready. You've then got six weeks to collect it - we know life gets busy, so we'll send reminders. If you're struggling to get in during that time, just let us know and we'll work something out.
Give the Gift of Creativity
Looking for the perfect present? Our gift vouchers are ideal for birthdays, thank yous or just because.
Available in multiples of £10, they can be used for pottery painting sessions, café treats or our take-out kits.
Pick them up in the café or we can post them out for a small fee.
